The early days

Before it was ours.
A note from Sunny & Paul

When we (that's Sunny & Paul, hi!) bought Dreamland in 2020 we got the trucks, the guestbooks, and a business phone number that had been registered 19 years earlier.

David and Marilyn started this dream in 2001. They were just two people who liked their backyard enough to make a job out of showing it off. We only ever crossed paths with them once — Paul ran into Marilyn years later, down in Peekaboo — but we drive the same sand and still answer the same phone today, 25 years later.

Felt right to start our Dreamland retrospective here where it all started!

Thanks for being along for the ride,

— Sunny & Paul

Still ringing

The phone line David and Marilyn set up in 2001 is still connected. Twenty-five years on, it still rings through to our office.

It was a Pinzgauer

Before the Suburbans, the DeVoghts ran a Pinzgauer, a boxy old army truck that'll crawl up just about anything. That's it on the original site, loaded with guests.

We kept a screenshot of the whole thing, guest reviews and all. That photo down at the bottom? An old Pinzgauer, packed with customers.

Twenty-five years in, and we're just getting to the good part.
